Sunday 2nd Monnow Valley Walk •• – A moderate circular walk of about 8 miles in the lovely Monnow valley, straddling the border of Wales and England. Starting from Skenfrith and its ancient castle the walk goes south on the English side of the River Monnow to Tregate Bridge and the site of another ancient castle. Across the bridge into Wales the walk returns via the old lanes of St Maughans to the hill overlooking Skenfrith with great views. A possible pub stop at Bell Inn, Skenfrith at finish, or teas courtesy of Gardens Open Day and a chance to view the Castle and the ancient St Bridget’s Church. BPL. Leave Chapter at 9.30am. Sunday 9th Piercefield Walk, Chepstow •• – It is a moderate and fairly flat walk with a couple of short steep sections. Has some cliffs / drops as it follows the river gorge. Sunday 9th Small Cog Walk • – A 6 mile walk around Afan Forest Park, meet at the Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike and Visitor Centre. A grand introduction to this splended forest. The walk begins along a secluded tributary of the Afon Afan, breaking from trees onto higher moorland it skirts the dramatic upper flanks of Foel Trawsnant. For those wishing to camp the night before there are excellent camping facilities at the Glyncorrwg campsite. bookings can be made by those who wish to camp the night before. Tuesday 11th Cardiff School of Art and Design Exhibition Show. A guided tour of the degree show at Cardiff School of Art and Design led by Clive. Meet 6.15 p.m. for a pre-show drink in A Shot in the Dark, City Road or meet at the art school reception, Howard Gardens, at 7.00 p.m. for the start of the tour. Post-show curry at Kismet, City Road, around 8.30pm-9p.m. Parking available in the Howard Gardens university car park, but if you’re staying for the curry, you are better advised to park in one of the residential streets off City Road. There is a pub in Llanmadoc a mile from the campsite. Saturday – There will be a circular 9 mile walk to Worm Head via the coastal path. Sunday – A short walk before returning home. Sunday 30th St Briavel to Hewelsfield Walk •• – A 8.5 mile circular walk from St Briavels. The route descends to the River Wye and continues along a section of Offa’s Dyke path before climbing to Hewelsfield. An enclosed path leads back to St Briavels.
